"YouTheatre gives me a chance to learn new things, make new friends, and participate in making a difference in the lives of children"
- Sarah Hart
Q. What is the philosophy behind your programs?
A. YouTheater teaches more than just artistic skills . . . it teaches life skills. Sure, kids learn acting, music, art and dance, but they also learn reading and writing skills, public speaking, creativity, self-confidence, and team work. We don’t just want to turn out great theatre artists, we also want to turn out great doctors and lawyers, teachers and bankers. The point is, great theatre education just like great art, makes your children want to be more of who they are.
Q. How do I sign up for classes?
A. There are several ways to sign up for classes. You can sign up online here, where you can register for an account and pay by credit card. If you'd prefer to print out a form to either mail in or or drop off at the YouTheatre Education Center, visit our forms page to download a class registration form. You can also call us at (828) 693-3517 or fax your form to (828) 693-3518.
Q. Can I get a discount for multiple classes?
A. Yes. Your most expensive class is full price, your 2nd 25% off and the 3rd class and more is 50% off! It doesn’t matter if you are registering one kid or five kids... the discount holds for the whole family!
Q. What is your refund policy?
A. Our refund policy states that if you cancel a registration before classes begin, you can get a refund less a $30 registration fee if you do it within two weeks of the class start date. Inside the two week window, you will receive a gift certificate minus the $30 fee. The fee helps cover costs of processing your registration. If you cancel AFTER your class begins, you are not issued a refund.
Q. Where is the Robin R. Farquhar Education Center?
A. That’s an easy one. We are just down the road from Flat Rock Playhouse and the Carl Sandburg Home parking area. Click here for a detailed map.
Q. How do I know which class I should take?
A. The website offers pretty good class descriptions. Most times, reading through that will help you make your decision. Otherwise just give us a call at 693-3517 and we can advise you. We’re happy to help.
Q. If I take classes at YouTheatre, will I be in a Flat Rock Playhouse Show?
A. Flat Rock Playhouse shows generally cast students from open auditions. That being said, whenever possible we try to involve our YouTheatre students in our mainstage productions where appropriate.
