Our state of the art, multi-million dollar Education Center has classrooms, a professional sprung dance floor, a multi-media library, an Apple Computer video editing lab, a conference room, music rooms, teacher offices, a video/computer room for archives and a brand new visual arts lab.

Finished in 2008, the Education Center bears the name of Robin R. Farquhar, who led the theater into the modern era from 1982 - 2008. Educating children was always a major focus for the Farquhar family and this education center is a testament to their commitment to the children of Western North Carolina

Importance of the Arts

The Arts Education Partnership, arguing for the importance of arts in schools, says various art forms benefit students in different ways:

Drama. Helps with understanding social relationships, complex issues and emotions; improves concentrated thought and story comprehension.

Music. Improves math achievement and proficiency, reading and cognitive development; boosts SAT verbal scores and skills for second-language learners.
