Dave Hart

YouTheatre Artistic Director Dave Hart has been an Equity actor for nearly 30 years. His credits include Broadway, 5 national tours and leading and supporting roles in regional theatre from Brunswick, Maine to Seattle, Washington. He is proud to have worked with some of the best directors and performers in theatre history. He was the assistant artistic Director of the Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre (D.C. area) and has been seen or heard in films, soaps, T.V., radio and trade shows. Dave is also a diverse professional artist and has worked as a watercolor illustrator, set designer/painter, costumer, prop painter/ builder, and rendering artist represented in private collections, corporations, video, indies, regional and Broadway theatre. Through his work at YouTheatre, he has had the joy of directing The Rocky Horror Show, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever; adapting and directing The Orphan Train and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Disney's Peter Pan Jr., The Boxcar Children as well introducing Visual Art and Theatre Arts to our future stars.

Lynn Llewelyn Penny

Lynn Llewelyn Penny, Director of YouTheatre Outreach, joins the YouTheatre staff after her recent creation and launch of 6 Pence Productions, LLC, innovator of a niche product in children’s audio entertainment, “Audio Children’s Theatre,” for kids by kids. The CD product-line achieved national distribution with Target Stores in 2011 and is available in children's stores through out the south east. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Acting from Southern Methodist University and has appeared professionally on stage, in television and film as well as a voice talent for advertising campaigns nationwide. Lynn also has extensive experience in marketing, sales and public relations. Originally from Los Angeles, she makes Hendersonville her home with her husband Will Penny and four amazing daughters! Lynn has performed regularly on the Flat Rock stage over the course of the last 20 years, she is a long-time member of Actors Equity Association and Screen Actors Guild, and is proud to be a full time staff member of Flat Rock Playhouse spreading the mission of YouTheatre through out the area!

Tania Batista

Elementary Arts and Special Events Coordinator

Joined "Team Flat Rock" as an apprentice in 1998. Since that time she has enjoyed a "montage" of featured roles in mainstage & YouTheatre productions. TaNia has a degree in Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management from Clemson University (1990) & continuing education credits in Children's Theatre from the College of Charleston & classical music instruction from Brevard College. She has been certified as a NIA (neuromuscular integrative action) instructor, ropes course facilitator, "playshopped" with the NC Shakespeare Festival & "workshopped" with Debra Brown (Cirque du Soleil choreographer for 20 years). She is also blessed to have studied African drumming & dance with the late Babatunde Olatunji. TaNia (and the MAGIC MOON TRAVELING CIRCUS) enjoys entertaining at special events, camps & festivals locally & throughout the southeast. She has organized the children's tent for Magnolia Music & Events @ The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida since 1997. Her band "PEACE OUT" performs regularly on Sunday mornings at Camp Kanuga. She is a proud mother to lil' Raleigh Moon. She has a great passion for music, yoga, world dance, all forms of art, nature & sharing what she knows with the world.

Lauren Rogers

YouTheatre Dance Instructor and Choreographer

Lauren Rogers, a native of Hendersonville, is thrilled to be teaching for the YouTheatre program at Flat Rock Playhouse! She holds a B.F.A in music theatre from Elon University. While obtaining her degree at Elon, Lauren taught theater dance at the Performing Arts Center of Carrboro, NC. Lauren is a proud member of the Actors Equity Association and has performed professionally at Flat Rock Playhouse for many years. You might have seen her as Tammy in Hairspray last summer. Lauren is the Dance Coordinator here at the YouTheatre and acts as the Apprentice Director in the summer time. She just recently returned from New York where she was tap assistant to Germaine Salsberg at the famous Broadway Dance Center. Lauren is very happy to be home in the mountains of North Carolina!

Eric Fotre Leach

YouTheatre Music Supervisor

From central Illinois, Eric holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Minor in Theater from Southern Illinois University. As a music director, Eric serves as pianist, vocal coach, composer and arranger. With a love for big Broadway musicals, Eric is proud to be able to be a part of the YouTheatre team as Music Supervisor and also as pianist and arranger for some of Flat Rock Playhouse's Music on the Rock Concert Series and Mainstage shows. Musically speaking, Eric most recently helped bring the Apprentice Production of 'Once on This Island' to life at the Playhouse Downtown as well as being a part of YouTheatre's 'Disney's Peter Pan Jr.' Eric is energized and always ready to bring his love of music and theatre to Western North Carolina, especially to the students. Let the overtures begin, it’s showtime!

Lisa Bryant

Adjunct Instructor for Company and Conservatory Lisa first came to the Playhouse as an apprentice in 1994. She has performed on the Flat Rock boards numerous times over the years since. Favorite roles include Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street, Nellie Forbush in South Pacific, Marty in Grease, and most recently Lois/Bianca in Kiss Me, Kate. Lisa taught dance, musical theatre and acting full-time for the YouTheatre from 2000-2002. Lisa holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Elon University and an MFA from the University of Central Florida. She has taught and performed extensively from Orlando to New Hampshire and all spots in between.  Lisa is a proud member of Actors' Equity. Her love and passion for performing is rivaled only by her excitement to share the craft with the talented young artists of YouTheatre.

MC Gaylord

M.C. Gaylord was born and raised in Eastern North Carolina and graduated with a BS in Business Management at UNC-Wilmington. M.C. (Mary Caroline) and husband Terry Sanders have three sons,Alexander, Christoph and Konrad Sanders who have all gone through the YouTheatre program. M.C. has been involved in YouTheatre’s support guild since 1997 serving as Spotlighters’ President from 2004-2006. In 2007 she joined Flat Rock Playhouse’s board of trustees and has served as Education Committee chair for four years. M.C. home-schooled her three sons over a twenty year span and has volunteered with La Leche League International as: Leader for twenty-two years until present, Coordinator of Leader Accreditation for NC for eight years, and New Leader Liaison for NC for four years. M.C. has also been active on other non-profit boards over her twenty-one years as a Hendersonville resident and co-owns an errand service business.

Neela Munoz

Adjunct Faculty for Acting

Neela is a professional Equity Actress, teacher, director, and consultant. She is in her 15th Season with the State Theatre of North Carolina, Flat Rock Playhouse. Her directing credits have taken her from Memphis to Maine. She has also taught theater workshops, classes, and residencies for students of Kindergarten to Adult age. In addition to YouTheatre, she has been on staff at the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte. She has done Public School Artist residencies for Henderson and Mecklenburg Counties and developed a program for Fletcher 4-H club and Fletcher Day Camp. She teaches presentation skills for business professionals through the Executive Repertory Branch of Flynn Heath Leadership. Neela holds a BA, cum laude, in Theatre from the University of South Florida with an Associates Degree in Music.

Bill Altman

Bill has been a professional musician and instructor since 1985. Bill attended University of Wisconsin @ Madison and UNCA. . Bill has had hundreds of students over the years and has played over 1000 gigs in various ensembles, most notably the rock band Crystal Zoo and the fusion trio Big Block Dodge and most recently is the fist call guitarist at the state theatre of NC, the Flatrock Playhouse..Bill has recorded in studios in NYC Memphis and Nashville and played premier venues all over the east coast. Bills students have won awards @ prestigious universities such as Elon Furman and UNCA and toured Europe and Canada w/ their college jazz bands.

Ronnie Zink

Ballet Instructor

Ronnie Zink has been a professional ballet trainer and coach in the U.S. and England for over 20 years. She trained in England, Boston and New York, receiving her teacher certification from the Associated Arts School in London furthered by her studies at the Boston and Joffrey Ballet schools. Ms. Zink was a soloist in Rhode Island Ballet Theatre. Her students have danced on Broadway as well as having been accepted at the Kirov Academy, American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, Nutmeg Conservatory of the Arts, Washington, Houston Ballet, Interlochen and Juilliard to name a few.
